Year 5 Planetarium Visit
On Thursday 13th October, Year 5 went to the South Downs Planetarium as part of their science unit on Earth and Space. They were treated to a presentation under the (artificial!) stars by Dr John Mason MBE who spoke to the children about constellations, the ISS, the planets, stars, the moon and galaxies. The children enjoyed the presentation and asked some imaginative and thoughtful questions afterwards.
After this, they took part in a quiz, finding out about different aspects of space before visiting the shop (an essential part of any trip!). The children also learnt more about the phases of the moon - ask your child about whether the moon is waxing or waning!
The children did a fantastic job representing the school and really enjoyed the day. Thank you to the parent volunteers who accompanied us on the trip. If you wish to see some photos of the day, please click here.
