Recently we became aware of an app called musical.ly that posed a potential risk to our children. Follow this link to read the article. Please check your child's device and have a conversation with them.
I would also like to make parents aware of a new feature on snapchat that automatically shares the location of your child's device, unless you change the setting to ghost mode.
As educators and parents, it is increasingly difficult to stay up to date with the latest apps and the risks they pose. However this website: commonsensemedia has done the job for us. If you are not sure about an app that your child is using, simply type the name of the app in the search bar. The website will give you a parent overview of the app, age recommendations, user reviews and a great section named 'Families can talk about' that provides you with the information needed to have a conversation with your child about the app. Click here to see a commonsensemedia review for snapchat.
